edit: I NOW HAVE A SLIGHT IDEA WHAT I'M DOING HERE she's summonable as either Berserker or Assassin, pick your poison. Berserker is mostly mute but not too crazy (unless you count nearly compulsive defiance against everything) and stupid OP if you can power her; Assassin is less unpredictable but mouthy as fuck and nowhere near as strong.

[Berkerker is summoned to a large shed, well-kept, filled with neat shelves of books and magical items in one half. The other half has a pottery wheel, a loom, any number of craft materials and tools.

The circle itself is nothing fancy, but it's tidy and pointed in purpose, nothing excess but nothing lacking either. Similarly, the man waiting patiently beside the circle is well dressed, but not overboard, wearing glasses and a high ponytail with his sleeves rolled up.]

[ the girl staring back at him... well, isn't a girl, at first. the out-of-focus shape in the center of the circle is difficult to make out, but there's the distinct impression of glowing eyes. fangs. long, curved claws.

none of those are in evidence as she solidifies, though, and the eyes that blink open to look him over and then steadily meet his gaze are a dull steely blue. ]

[He meets her eyes without hesitation, lifting his hand to display his command seals.]

Can you speak? Berserker.

[miraculess]

[ frowns, slightly, and starts to shake her head— only to finally break eye contact to look at the command seals, then past him at their surroundings with perhaps an unexpected amount of consideration.

...after a pause she raises one hand and wobbles it, reluctant, as her frown deepens. ]

[he nods evenly. he put a great deal of thought into this summoning, after all. it wasn't on a whim that he decided to involve himself with the affairs of human mages, or a coincidence that he summoned her.]

You seem to retain your reason.

[he puts his hand on his chest and inclines his head.]

My name is Camio, and I have summoned you.

[miraculess]

[ transferring that measuring gaze back to him, jaw setting at the first comment. that flicker of expression vanishes as her face goes blank with surprise, like she wasn't expecting the introduction.

curling her fingers, slowly, and then dipping her head in return, the bow just slightly deeper than his. ]

[tostandoutside]

[He offers her a smile, at that.]

I'd ask what you prefer to be called, but... Could you tell me?

[it's not mocking, just earnestly asking in case she can.]

[miraculess]

[ her expression closes off again. she doesn't shake her head, though, instead furrowing her brow in concentration. it takes several moments before she finally says, clearly: ]

Nothing.

[tostandoutside]

[yeah he pretty much saw that one coming given her myth...]

Do you want something to be called?

[miraculess]

[ yes. desperately, desperately yes.

but she'd lost her chance to be a person a long time ago, and there's no point in pretending otherwise. she shakes her head. ]

[tostandoutside]

[He doesn't quite agree with that choice, but it is hers to make. He nods.]

Then I will refer to you by class, Berserker.

[miraculess]

[ nods once, stiffly ]

[tostandoutside]

[then it's decided.]

I intend to win the holy grail for two reasons. One, to save my lover Maria, who is terminally ill. Two, to kill my father, Lucifer, lord of hell. The former will take priority over the latter. Does this suit you?

[ her head comes back up as he starts to elaborate, clearly making an effort to focus on that rather than whatever her own thoughts had been— which means he gets a good look at her immediate, unguarded expression of sympathy and longing as he describes Maria's condition— ]

[miraculess]

[ ...and then her complete, blank-faced shock as he continues. there's another of those long pauses while she blinks at him, tilts her head a little as she re-notes his eyes and ears ]

[ and then presses the back of her hand to her mouth as she starts to laugh. for all that the sound is rusty and harsh, there's a thread of genuine amusement there. ]

Yes.

[ she doesn't even have to think about that one. ]

[her reactions earn her a genuine smile. he'd judged her correctly, at least so far, and it's a relief. he extends a hand, face up.]

Then let us do our best as comrades.

[miraculess]

[ hums in agreement after another beat of consideration (still chuckling under her breath, not quite a giggle). it's with careful deliberation that she reaches out with her other hand— not to clasp it, but to touch her fingers cautiously to his palm. ]

[he accepts that gesture too, gently curling his fingers over hers, so as not to trap them.]

And you needn't worry about prana constraints. I'm more than capable of supplying whatever you need.

[not that she couldn't already feel that, in a way. this is probably the most energetic she's ever been, even as a heroic spirit.]

[miraculess]

[ she keeps her eyes on their hands, rather than his face, and pinks slightly in patches. at the same time, though, she looks somewhere between dubious and torn. she can feel that energy, and it's almost uncomfortable, really. a relief, too, since so far she doesn't want to "accidentally" drain him dry by her own nature, but at the same time... it's difficult not to feel that and not immediately want to use it up as a precaution. being restless is dangerous. ]

Is there anything you'd like to know?

[he knows it's a hard question, but it's been confirmed that she CAN speak, and he doesn't know what else to offer right now.]

[miraculess]

[ considers trying to ask for all of a second before shaking her head as she takes her hand back, nose still wrinkled. it's too much effort to figure out what she wants to ask (what he wants her to do? for something to do, in general?) and then how without even getting into actually piecing the words together. it would be easier if she could give up her pride about it, but... well, she quite literally has nothing else. ]

No?

[lets her withdraw her hand without issue.]

[miraculess]

[ huffs, and shakes her head again. no. ]

[tostandoutside]

[nods, understanding.]

I'm afraid I'm not sure of what to do next, then.
